Post-67 backlash on Jews in Arab countries: Part 2

6 October @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Thursday 6 October, 7:30 pm UK time (please note change of day). It is  55 years since Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War changed the politics of the Middle  East.   But it also led to a dramatic backlash on the few thousand Jews still living in Arab countries, bringing  remaining communities to the brink of extinction.  In almost all,  there were demonstrations and anti-Jewish riots, as the mobs vented their anger at Israel’s stunning defeat of the Arab armies on local Jews. We will be hearing testimonies from Rabbi Elie Abadie, who fled Lebanon, Penina Elbaz, who fled Morocco, and Areila Lewis, who was evacuated from Aden in 1967. ( This is Part 2: you can see a video recording of Part 1, which dealt with Libya, Egypt and Iraq, here.)
