Visitors to JW3 are invited to browse the spectacular Harif exhibition at the entrance. It celebrates Sephardi culture in London and explains the Henna ceremony widely practised by Jews from Arab countries to bestow blessings of happiness and fertility on a forthcoming marriage.

Michelle Huberman of Harif  will present a fascinating and colourful introduction to the world of Jewish Henna — an ancient tradition that has been celebrated by Jewish communities across North Africa and the Middle East for generations.

Through photographs, stories, costumes, objects and personal research, Michelle explores the history and meaning of the Jewish henna ceremony, looking at the distinctive customs of North African, Iraqi, Yemenite, Persian and other Sephardi and Mizrahi communities.

Guests may be invited to have a small amount of henna applied to their hand, allowing them to experience one of the most joyful and symbolic aspects of the ceremony.
