Sixty years since the Suez Exodus

18 January 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Wednesday 18 January 2017 – 8pm

In the autumn of 1956 Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser began arresting, interning and expelling 25,000 Jews from Egypt, seizing their property. Was the expulsion an understandable act of decolonisation, or of naked anti-Semitism? To mark the 60th anniversary of the Exodus, Lyn Julius will examine the impact of the Suez crisis on Jews living in Egypt. If you are a Jewish refugee from Egypt, you are invited to tell your personal story.Spiro Ark/ Harif, HGSS. Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, Norrice Lea, London N2 0RE.
