Silent Exodus and Stories from Libya

29 November 2016 @ 8:15 pm - 10:15 pm

Tuesday 29 November 2016, 8.15 pm.

To mark the 3rd annual memorial day for Jewish refugees from Arab countries and Iran, this is a rare opportunity to see SILENT EXODUS by Pierre Rehov, the first film ever made dealing with the mass expulsion of almost a million Jewish refugees from Arab countries. It features first-hand testimonies and analysis by historians Maurice Roumani, Bat Yeor and David Littman, and asks why the international community has ignored this great injustice for so long.
After the film, Eveleen Habib will recall the years when she lived in Libya with her new husband Aldo, the son of the Jewish community leader of Tripoli. The family, including two-year old Jane, was forced to flee with their lives after violent rioting broke out following the Six-Day War. They abandoned valuable assets and property.

Q&A will follow with Eveleen Habib and Lyn Julius of Harif, the UK association of Jews from the Middle East and North Africa.
