BAGHDAD TWIST : In the early 1970s Joe Balass, aged 4, escaped with his family and made his new home in Canada. But Iraq has never left him. This short film is a portrait of Iraq in the 1960s through newsreels, and life for the remaining 3,000 Jews through home movies and photos. The filmmaker’s mother narrates their experiences.

SHADOW IN BAGHDAD: Duki Dror’s ‘Shadow in Baghdad’ chronicles the story of Linda Abdul Aziz Menuhin, an Israeli columnist and blogger who fled her native Iraq. A young journalist in Baghdad reaches out to Linda via Skype: he offers to help her trace the disappearance of her father in Iraq in 1972, one of some 50 Jews abducted by Saddam Hussein’s tyrannical regime.
