Ladino Evening with Norman
Cohen Falah and Kerensya
We are proud to present a memorable evening
of Ladino singing and music in the beautiful setting of London’s own ‘Ladino’ home,
the Spanish and Portuguese synagogue at Holland Park.
Ladino is the medieval Spanish language that Jews took with them
when they settled around the Mediterranean 500 years ago. Even
today at Holland Park, services on Shabbat and on Hagim include
prayers recited in Ladino.
Norman Cohen Falah is an accomplished
singer and performer in Ladino, Spanish and Hebrew. Accompanied
by his group of instrumentalists, Kerensya, Norman’s sweet
and enchanting voice brings to life the joy and spirit of the
Jewish heritage.
A sensitive and versatile interpreter of Jewish music, Norman
is the Hazan (Cantor) at Belsize Square Synagogue in London.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1973, the son of an Ashkenazi
mother and a Sephardi father, Norman studied Hazanut at the Latin-American
Rabbinical Seminary and music, guitar and piano at the National
Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. He has performed Ladino
workshops and concerts at Limmud and Spiro Ark.
