A convivial evening with Linda Dangoor
Linda Dangoor, author of the newly-published ‘Flavours of
Babylon’, will be in conversation with Professor Sami Zubaida.
The Jews of Babylon have a rich culinary tradition going back
over 2,000 years, but their cooking, robust and aromatic without
being hot, remains something of a well-guarded secret outside their
own homes.
To mark the launch of her new cookbook
Flavours of Babylon, Linda Dangoor will be in conversation with
Sami Zubaida about the food of the Babylonian Jews and its significance
as a language and badge of identity. You will also be able to
sample a few of Linda’s
favourite foods.
Designer, painter and ceramicist, Linda Dangoor has been working
in the design field for over 30 years. Flavours of Babylon is her
first book.
Sami Zubaida is Emeritus Professor of Politics and Sociology at
Birkbeck College, University of London. He has published several
books on the religion, culture and politics of the Middle East.
He is co-editor of 'A Taste of Thyme: the Culinary Cultures of
the Middle East' ( I.B.Tauris).
Copies of books by both authors will be on sale.
